This collection is the second volume in the “Ebony” series, following on from “Le tout petit Ebony” and aimed at slightly more advanced beginner clarinetists.

The seven pieces it contains use only left-hand fingerings.

I asked the composers to adhere to very specific guidelines: simple rhythms, easy sequences, legato playing, preferably in short phrases, standard dynamics… all while emphasizing musicality and variety of styles.

The recording accompanying the collection, recorded with pianist Jean-François Basteau, offers examples and accompaniment versions to make these pieces more accessible.
