Bassoon

Dança de Lisboa
Writing a series of dances based on Fado, combining the brilliant bassoon and its incredible expressive power with string instruments, was a truly joyful experience for me, and Shannon Lowe’s recording, to whom this piece is dedicated, only reinforced that feeling.

Un bal russe / A Russian ball
This piece is a suite of dances, a tribute to five Russian composers. The suite consists of two tender, delicate but lively movements, referencing Sergei Rachmaninoff and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, as well as three dances full of dynamism and humor, reminiscent of Dmitri Shostakovich, Igor Stravinsky, and Aram Khachaturian.
