This play pays tribute to Nelson Mandela, symbolically modeling itself on, articulating, and developing around the man’s life. It evokes, in turn, a vision of Africa with its songs and dances, Madiba’s birth and development, the rumblings of apartheid… This is followed by 27 years of imprisonment, liberation, and the character’s rebirth with the end of segregation.
