Sonate
This sonata was commissioned by Philippe Berrod and Henri Selmer Clarinets Paris.
It was first performed in July 2015 at Clarinetfest in Madrid.
Dedicated to Philippe Berrod and Nicolas Dessenne, this Sonata opens with a very free cadenza in which the clarinet demonstrates its ability to bridge the gap between classical and traditional, even ethnic, music, as well as its extreme flexibility and rich timbres.
The second movement is tranquil, meditative, melodic, simple and obvious.
The third movement twirls, trills, leaps and jokes…
